Helen Pananggung of Lembeh Foundation: Blue Green Personality of the Year
The Blue Green Awards are presented at the annual ADEX Show in Singapore. Sarah Ann Wormald profiles the very worthy recipient of the “Personality of the Year” award. Lembeh Foundation’s Helen Pananggung is a human dynamo, motivating, persuading, cajoling and sometimes dragging (!) her community to embrace new ways of both reducing waste and upcycling the existing trash discarded in the area. Congratulations Helen!
DJI announces Osmo Action camera
Aerial imaging giant, DJI, has announced its entry into the Action cam market with the Osmo Action camera. Natively waterproof to 11 meters (36 feet), it has a 1/2.3-inch sensor the records 4K video up to 60fps at 100Mbp. It also features electronic image stabilization and HDR at 4K/30fps.
Paper emphasizes social media and citizen science in marine research
A paper published in the “Regional Studies in Marine Science” has emphasized how the combination of social media, underwater photography and citizen science can provide insights into the study of the marine environment.
Backscatter reviews the Panasonic LX100 II
Wetpixel sponsor Backscatter Underwater Photo and Video have posted an excellent review of the underwater performance of the Panasonic LX100 mark II compact camera. The camera features a Micro 4/3 sensor, significantly larger than the 25 mm sensors on most high-performance compact cameras. The review notes that using wet lenses allows for a sufficient range of focal lengths and that the wide angle performance of the camera was found by the reviewers to be very good.

Seacam announces lens support for Laowa lenses
Seacam has released images of two new specific lens solution they are producing for use with Laowa lenses. Firstly, they company has produced a housing for the Laowa 24mm f/14 2X Macro Probe. Secondly they have announced port support for the Laowa 15mm f/4 Wide Angle Macro.
Isotta announces housing for LX15/LX10
Isotta has announced their housing for the Panasonic LX15/LX10 compact camera. It features a flash window with the option of fiber optic triggering, an M126 port for vacuum or other accessories, along with an M67 thread on the lens port for attaching wet lenses.
