Inon ships filter set for GoPro HERO5

Inon has announced that they are shipping a filter set for use with their conversion lenses on GoPro HERO5 cameras. The set includes magenta (pink), orange and red filters for green, shallow and blue water respectively and is designed to be used with the GoPro Super Suits dive housing and Inon’s UFL-G140 SD and UCL-G165 SD lenses.

New species of shark glows in the dark

A new species of shark that is bioluminescent and has glow-in-the-dark glands along either side of its underbelly. The scientific name of the shark is Etmopterus lailae and its other notable feature is its large nose. The small shark was found 1,000 feet deep off the northwestern Hawaiian Islands. The shark was discovered 17-years ago, but scientists did not realize it was a new species until they went to describe the shark and publish their findings for review.

Nauticam ships housing for Sony a9

Nauticam are shipping their NA-A9 housing for the Sony A9 mirrorless camera. It uses the same port systems as that of the NA-A7II and offers lens support for 13 Sony lenses, Canon EF lenses (via a port adaptor and lens converter) and Nauticam’s water contact lenses. The housing “inherits the core design elements from the Nauticam pro DSLR range, and bundles them in a more compact package.”

Megamouth shark filmed in Komodo

Divers Penny Bielich and Heikki Innanen were scuba diving in the right place at the right time (with a camera filming, too) when a Megamouth shark happened to swim by. The divers were visiting Komodo National Park in Indonesia aboard the Samata Luxury Liveaboard and diving at the Shotgun dive site. Bielich captured the incredible footage on his camera. They estimate that the shark was 5 meters long.
