Located in the middle of the Coral Triangle, scientists have identified more than 600 species of coral together with 2000 species of reef fish in the area. Final Call: UPY 2020
The 2020 Underwater Photographer of the Year contest is making its final call for entries. It offers 12 standard categories and 2 special ones for marine conservation imagery and photographic books. The deadline for entries is 11:59 GMT on 3 January 2020 and the winners will be announced at the Go Diving Show in Coventry, UK on 22 February.

Darktable 3 imaging app is available
Version 3 of the open-source image editing app Darktable has been released. It offers an improved GUI and improvements to the denoise module, the Picasa export module changed to Google Photos, new RGB Curve and Levels modules, a new Basic Adjustments module, new color pickers for some modules “many code optimizations” for SSE and CPU paths and much more.
Canon USA supports Coral Restoration Project
Canon USA has announced that it is participating in the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science coral reef restoration project. Canon team members, along with students and university staff embarked on an expedition to plant coral fragments from a nursery into an existing reef of Key Biscayne, Florida.
