Roundup: Creative Cloud updates 2019
In conjunction with their 2019 MAX convention, Adobe has released a series of major updates to its Creative Cloud apps. Perhaps the coolest new feature is that Lightroom Classic 9 now has a splash screen featuring Wetpixel member Tobias Friedrich’s image! All updates are available to subscribers via the new Creative Cloud app.
App: Marine Life of the North Atlantic
A new iOS and Android app adds new functionality to the book “Marine Life of the North Atlantic Cape May to Canada.” It has identification for over 300 species and additional dive logging, notifications of species sightings and community sharing.
Anglerfish announces HD57 monitor
Anglerfish Creative Lighting has announced its AFCL-HD57 monitor. Designed specifically for underwater image-makers, the 5.7” IPS screen with full 4K resolution. Integrated into a waterproof housing, it has a separate battery compartment that uses a Sony F970 battery. It is shipping with a shade, ball mount, cable, bulkhead, and bulkhead adaptor.
Issue 111 of Underwater Photography Magazine is available
Issue 111 of Underwater Photography Magazine is available to download. Featured in this issue are reviews of the Sony A7R MKIV and Nauticam NA-A7R IV, Blackmagic BMPCC4K and Nauticam NA-BMPCCII, Sony FE 90mm F/2.8 Macro G OSS and Nauticam NA-EM1. Images from the 2019 Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Monterey Shootout are displayed, along with articles about the Sony A7RIII, Komodo and Guadeloupe.
Pre-order Discount: The Underwater Photographer Edition Five
The fifth edition on Martin Edge’s seminal textbook The Underwater Photographer is going to press and is now accepting pre-orders. Due to ship in April 2020, the book has been extensively updated with rewritten chapters covering new equipment and techniques along with 400 new images.
Wetpixel and DPG Image Makers Party 2019
So it is official! The year’s biggest social event for underwater image makers is coming to DEMA again. Wetpixel and DivePhotoGuide will be hosting their infamous party at the poolside of the Rosen Center, Orlando on Thursday 14 November. We will aim to start at around 8 pm and expect to carry on till late.
Canon shutters Irista cloud service
Canon has announced that it will shut down its cloud-based image storage, Irista from 31 January 2020. The company has stated that all “photos, videos and personal data held in Irsita will be deleted on this date.” All images and videos can be downloaded in 4GB zip files in order to remove them from the site. The announcement goes on to state that Canon does not plan to replace Irista with another similar service.
Retroactive app allows use of Aperture on macOS Catalina
DPReview has reported that an app has been developed that will allow the use of legacy Mac apps like Aperture and iPhoto within the 64-bit environment on Apple’s latest OS. Called Retroactive, it can be downloaded from GitHub, and full installation instructions are also available.
