CineBags ships updated Square Grouper
Cinebags are shipping an updated version of their Square Grouper. Updates include a new shoulder strap, zipped pouches in the flap, updated traction material on the underside, and a heat welded bottom insert. The Square Grouper is designed to protect assembled housings and act a rinse tank if required.
Shark fin ban Bill passes through House
The Sharks Fin Sales Elimination Act of 2019 (H.R.737) has passed the US House of Representatives by a vote of 310 vs 107. The bill “makes it illegal to possess, buy, or sell shark fins or any product containing shark fins, except for certain dogfish fins. A person may possess a shark fin that was lawfully taken consistent with a license or permit under certain circumstances.”
Isotta announces housing for Canon G7X Mark III
Isotta has announced their housing for the Canon Powershot G7X Mark III. It features laser-etched tables on all controls and a rear door that can be completely removed in order to make it easier to locate the camera.
Easydive announces iPhone 11 compatibility
Easydive has announced that their Leo 3 SMART and Diveshot housings are compatible with the iPhone 11. With the Diveshot, it is simply a matter of downloading the Diveshot App onto the new iPhone. With the Leo3 Smart, it is necessary to order a new camera holder panel and then download the Leo3 Smart App.
Report: DEMA 2019
The Diving Equipment Marketing Association annual show is currently being held in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The largest diving equipment show in the world, manufacturers and image makers gather to network and view new products. Housing importation duties levied at Baja airports
Wetpixel member divrndeep has reported on the forum that Mexican customs officials at Cabo San Lucas (SJD) and La Paz (LAP) airports are enforcing a policy of charging an importation fee on underwater camera housings. She reports that the fee is based on 16% of the housing’s worth and that customs officials will use Google to ascertain a housing’s value. At the time of writing, there are no reports of this being implemented at other points of entry.
Getty Images abandons Right Managed image licensing
Getty Images has announced via email that from 6 November, they will no longer accept any new images under rights-managed (RM) licensing agreements. All images managed by the agency will only be on a Royalty Free licensing model. Images currently held by Getty under RM arrangements will be removed by the end of January 2020, with the RM licensing model being deleted completely by November 2020.
