Housing Mount for Teric available
Wetpixel member Jon Anderson (jonjake) has designed and is producing a universal mount that allows the direct attachment of a Shearwater Teric dive computer to an underwater housing. It attaches via a 1” ball and allows the Teric to be placed in its charging dock.
Fantasea announces updated strobe trigger and battery cradle
Fantasea has announced two updated accessories for their mirrorless camera housings. The FA-3 LED strobe trigger is an electro optical converter that provides manual strobe output via fiber optic. The NP-FW50 Battery Cradle C allows an NP-FW50 battery to be fitted inside the housing, with a micro USB connection to the camera.
Results: Think Pink 2019
The 2019 Think Pink underwater imaging competition has announced its winners. The contest is run by Dive Into the Pink, a charity that uses the proceeds from various diving events, including this contest to support survivor support and breast cancer research
Report: Wetpixel Whale Sharks 2019
Wetpixel has been running trips to Isla Mujeres, Mexico since 2011 to witness and document the amazing whale shark (Rhincodon typus) aggregation that occurs here. Perhaps uniquely, this is an opportunity to join literally 100s of the world’s largest fishes as they feed on the plentiful plankton that abounds in the area. For those that could not be with us this year, here is an illustrated account of our trip that ran from 06 to 10 August.
Aquatica announces housing for Nikon Z6 and 7
Aquatica has announced their housing for the Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirrorless cameras. It supports the FTZ adaptor and has lens releases for both Z and F mount lenses. The AZ6/7 housing also has an AF on lever under the shooter’s right thumb and the image zoom buttons are close to the left thumb.
UW Technics launches TTL circuits for Sony mirrorless cameras
UW Technics has launched two new boards for Sony mirrorless cameras in Nauticam housings. One is compatible with the A7 and A9 series, the other with the A6000 and A6500. Both are user-installable and enable manual and TTL shooting via optical or electrical outputs with most Inon, Sea&Sea, Ikelite, and Subtronic strobes.
Video: NASA Neutral Buoyancy Lab by Peter Lightowler
NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Lab (NBL) in Houston, Texas is a large freshwater pool that is used to train astronauts to perform tasks in a weightless, or in this case, neutral buoyancy environment. Gates and RED recently ran a 3-day STO course, training the NBL team in using their housings and cameras to document the training. Peter Lightowler of Down Under Aquatic Imaging also provided an introduction to video editing using Davinci Resolve. In addition, he produced this amazing short film.
Workflow improvements in Photoshop CC
Lightroom and Photoshop guru Erin Quigley has pointed out 2 important changes in the most recent version of Photoshop CC. Release 20.0.5 has options to revert the constrain proportions function by holding the shift key and also not require the shift key in order to toggle through tool options.
