Sealux announces housing for Sony FS5 camcorder
Sealux has announced a housing for the Sony FS5 4K Camcorder. It offers lens support for a wide variety of lens combinations, including the Metabones Speedbooster adaptor. It can be fitted with an external recorder/monitor, an internal monitor or the camera’s own can be used. The housing fits into standard carry on size luggage.
Chasing Coral premieres this week on Netflix
Chasing Coral, the newest documentary by the team that filmed Chasing Ice, premieres on Netflix this friday July 14th. Director Jeff Orlowski, who also directed Chasing Ice, directed this film. Encouraged to make a film chronicling the plight of corals by Richard Vevers, Orlowski used time lapse photography and special cameras to document coral bleaching events.
Video: Gombessa IV Genesis
Laurent Ballesta and Blancpain has posted the full film documenting the Gombessa IV expedition to Fakarava, French Polynesia. It features the team’s efforts to explain the mating aggregation of camouflage grouper (Epinephelus polyphekadion) that occurs annually in the Pass, along with the predatory behavior of the large numbers of grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos.)
Inon publishes compatibility information with Olympus TG-5
Inon has released details of their product’s compatibility with the Olympus TG-5 in the Olympus PT-058 housing. Included are details of their wide angle conversion lenses and fiber optically triggered strobes. Inon’s close up lenses are not compatible as the camera has a “Microscope Mode.”
Nikon announces partial recall of EN-EL15 batteries
Nikon has announced a recall of some EN-EL15 batteries. In order to find out whether your’s is affected by this, please check the 14-digit serial number on the underside of the battery. If digit 9 is an E or an F, it should not be used or charged and Nikon will exchange it. There are full details of the process involved in doing this on Nikon USA.
Amazing images from the deepest dive ever under Antarctic ice
In a recently released series of images, deep diver and National Geographic underwater photographer Laurent Ballesta completed the deepest dives ever under Antarctic ice to photograph the animals that live there. The deepest of the dives reached 230-feet, where the colors, numbers and types of creatures was the highest. At temperatures below 29 degrees fahrenheit, and dives lasting up to five-hours, it took Ballesta a full seven-months for his nerves to recover from the trauma.
Fantasea announces Radiant 3000F video light
Fantasea has announced their Radiant 3000F video light. It has an output of 1000 lumen in both flood (100°) and spot (15°) controllable via 3 steps. White color temperature is 5,000°K with a CRI of 90. The light also has red, UV, blue , flashing and SOS modes. Burn time is 50 minutes at full power.
